The photo above was taken on departure from the Bush Intercontinental Airport on Saturday afternoon June 10, 2006 departing Westbound on runway 8L-26L. This gives you a view of where the Incumbent Board of Trustees want to sink $52 MILLION (more after interest and fees are added) into a College Campus at the “End of The Runway.”
A Picture is Worth a thousand words, and this is the real untouched photograph. I will let it speak for its self. I will be glad to give you a link to the “raw file” if you would like.
One question: Why, within 2 miles from the end of runways, do 80% of all aircraft accidents, crashes and mishaps occur?
There is no attempt to stifle the operations of the Airport or halt any of the benefits that it is providing this community. As written and as proposed this bond issue is not in the best interests of the College system and needs to go back to the drawing board. There are many more reasons, however this one stands out first and foremost.
